Work Package 1: Use case and technical architecture specification
WP1 establishes the foundation for the CLASiK platform by defining user needs, technical specifications, and key knowledge resources. Its main objective is to collect and analyse functional and technical requirements and to identify relevant datasets and scientific vocabularies in the climate domain.
The work is structured into three main tasks:
- T1.1 (Requirements elicitation and research questions) gathers user requirements through discussions with use case partners and defines priority levels, while also identifying multilingual scientific research questions in climatology.
- T1.2 (Datasets and vocabularies) focuses on identifying and analysing relevant multilingual and multimodal data sources, as well as compiling scientific vocabularies related to climate and extreme events.
- T1.3 (Technical architecture design) translates functional requirements into technical specifications and designs the overall architecture of the CLASiK platform.
WP1 is led by the University of Tartu, with Pyrenean Institute of Ecology responsible for Task T1.1 and all partners contributing across tasks. The University of Tartu plays a key role, particularly in identifying datasets and vocabularies.
The main outcome of WP1 is a clearly defined set of requirements, datasets, vocabularies, and a technical architecture that serves as essential input for the development and validation work in WP2, WP3, and WP4. This is marked by Milestone MI-1 (Month 12), when the CLASiK requirements are finalised and platform development begins.
